With her multi-octave voice and more than 80 million records sold worldwide, it's no surprise that pop diva Mariah Carey is viewed as the successor to Whitney Houston. She emerged as the premier R&B/pop songstress of the 1990s, and by the end of the decade had shifted gears a bit by collaborating with the likes of Ol' Dirty Bastard and incorporating elements of hip-hop into her sound. Though her 2001 big-screen debut, GLITTER, was a total flop and something of a blow to Carey's seemingly Teflon career, her 2005 comeback record, THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI, solidified her status as a true pop-music diva.

It was clear early on in her recording career that Long Island's own Mariah Carey possessed a rare combination of qualities that would make her special. She had a commanding voice, an uncanny ear for a hit, commanding stage presence and an effervescent personality. She was, in short, an American pop diva just waiting to be discovered.

When her eponymous 1990 debut sold more than 12 million copies, it was clear Carey would become the pop queen she'd always dreamed she'd be. From the doo-wop-influenced opening track "Vision of Love" to the sweet, last-dance ballad "Love Takes Time," Carey's debut was one of biggest-selling records of the '90s. It was so popular, in fact, that four of the 11 tracks on the album hit #1 on the Billboard singles chart. MARIAH CAREY is Top 40 perfection with a remarkable young talent at the center of it all.

this album is Fucking amazing, I love Mariah carey so much, She is my hero always and forever... Just listen to the emotion this women has in her voice, her voice is So beautiful, I recommend Great songs Like Vision of love, Love takes time, I dont wanna Cry, Vanashing, All In ur mind, These are all great songs From Mariah Carey, Her 1st solo album which sold 9 million copies... Enjoy, love ya mariah
