As far as cratediggin' goes, Madlib has established himself as one of the most skilled and reliable beat archivists out there. From his various jazz mixtapes to his funky-break MIND FUSION volumes to the BLUNTED IN THE BOMB SHELTER dub reggae compilation, Madlib has shown his taste to be impeccable, and serious beat-heads have come to fiend for his mixes. The fifth installment in Time Out's THE OTHER SIDE series finds Lib on the wheels, bringing together jazz, both experimental (Sun Ra Arkestra) and smooth (Steve Grossman), smoked-out dub tracks (Prince Jazzbo, Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace), acid-rock funk (Outlaw Blues Band), and his own indie hip-hop efforts (Quasimoto, Jaylib, Beat Konducta), among other treats.
