Kila is a collective of Irish musicians known for their hybrid arrangements of Celtic traditional music. Achieving gold-record status several times over in their native Ireland, LUNA PARK is their much-anticipated ninth album and the first for the World Village label. "Hebden Bridge" and "Wandering Fish" are jaunts of twee eccentricity complete with dulcimer, fiddle, and flute, sounding much like the Incredible String Band or Clannad. "The Mama Song" is a departure from traditionalism as a torrent of Middle Eastern gypsy vocals meet a heavy beat-driven syncopation. The title track, with gorgeously strummed strings, creates a rich timbre. These windswept songs breath new life into Celtic music, further pushing the boundaries of Irish folk idiom.
