Not to be confused with the same-named film music composer or the tenor saxophonist, David Newman is a New Age artist as well as a full-fledged Yogi known as Durga Das. Newman intones a form of sanctification from India known as Kirtan, and he combines that with soothing ambient music, rhythms derived from Indian music, and even mild/chilled hip-hop beats. For the spiritual seeker and the cultural gate-crasher, LOVE PEACE CHANT can be most tonic.
