Annotation

A detour proves to have a literally explosive effect on a young man's life in this wonky work of British lad lit. On his way to interview a musician, jazz DJ Rob Garland stops to purchase some towels and then gets caught up in a traffic jam. As a result, he's late for their luncheon interview--and for the fiery death suffered by the pub's patrons (including the musician) after a truck careens into the establishment and blows up. Knowing now, as he does, that the simplest choice can have the most far-reaching of consequences, the ability to make the most trivial decisions now escapes him. In despair, Rob shares his experience on his radio show, and finds fellowship with others who narrowly escaped death.
