Yuk, yuk, and treble yuck. Continuing the 7Ts label's series of Osbros two-fers, but doing so more for the sake of completeness than for any musical reason, these two albums date from the death throes of the brothers' hit career, as they retreat from both the rock & rolling instincts that characterized Crazy Horses and the musical esotericism of The Plan. It's hard to say which of the two was the most disappointing. Love Me for a Reason at least rode in on the swelling glories of the title track, before crashing into a succession of lesser ballads and soft rock nasties; I'm Still Gonna Need You, on the other hand (retitled from the more familiar The Proud One) didn't even have that much going for it. It's music for elevators gone bad, so slick that you have to dry your hands after touching it, and glib enough that you cannot imagine how this band once gripped so many hearts. For here, across the whole of the second album and most of the first, they are so bereft of soul that it's painful to listen to them. ~ Dave Thompson
