Canadian singer/songwriter Sam Roberts has been churning out his distinctive blend of roots rock and indie pop since 2000, and his fourth album, LOVE AT THE END OF THE WORLD, carries on that tradition in fine style. With a sharp lyrical knack, Roberts offers up trenchant tunes that alternate between reckless rockers and more thoughtful, melodic tracks, arriving at a sound somewhere in the vicinity of Wilco's most accessible moments, though at times Roberts' voice bears distinctly Ray Davies-like tones.
