Initially known as Fear of Flying, the English alternative-rock act White Lies rose to prominence in 2008, garnering much buzz in the British music press with its brooding Interpol-like sound. Fronted by charismatic, deep-voiced singer/guitarist Harry McVeigh, the band wears its Joy Division/Echo & the Bunnymen influences on its dark collective sleeve, as evinced on its '09 full-length debut, TO LOSE MY LIFE., which topped the U.K. album charts upon its release.
