The Atlanta-based garage-punk combo the Black Lips released their first album for Vice records in 2007, the live instant-party LOS VALIENTES DEL MUNDO NUEVO. Recorded in Tijuana, Mexico, the band's lo-fi

aesthetic is perfectly suited to the dingy club setting and that much more so to TJ given the Lips' reputation for on-stage debauchery. Live albums aren't always the best place to discover a band, but with its sweaty enthusiasm and near-perfect, in-the-now sound recreation LOS VALIENTES may prove the exception to the rule.
