Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O.: Tsuyama Atsushi (vocals, acoustic guitar, flute, kazoo, trumpet, bass guitar); Kawabata Makoto (various instruments); Higashi Hiroshi (synthesizer); Shimura Koji (drums).

This 40-plus-minute meditation from Makoto Kawataba's psych-noise collective offers three diverse examples of their warped musical voice. Opener "Eleking The Clay" is a 19-minute feedback freakout, the kind of epic endurance test Kawataba and co. have become known for. Closer "Vishnu And The Magic Elixir," by contrast, is 25 minutes of slow-building momentum, with the inclusion of mangled surf guitars and Stooges-esque damaged horns. The real treat, ironically, is middle inclusion "Sorcerer's Stone Of The Magic," an almost tranquil, hypnotic track highlighted by vocal chants, chirping birds, sensitive sitars, and alien synth flourishes. While it may help to actually be on acid when entering the Mothers Temple, VISHNU is a surprisingly intoxicating experience regardless.
