Q (Magazine) (p.107) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his is like an updated version of Astrud Gilberto's easy-listening bossa nova, all soft Latin shuffles and dreamy vocals, Laura harmonizing elegantly over Alfred's off-centre drumbreaks..."
Mojo (Publisher) (p.107) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[R]ooted in bossa nova beauty....Alfred's occasional, doleful vocal is John Cale to Laura's Nico: with strings looped into an hypnotic lull, 'Siren Song' updates Nico's CHELSEA GIRL sound."
Clash (magazine) (p.111) - "Never have songs surrounding the subject of love and romance been so utterly thrilling and delightful as this....'Sibilance' is simply sublime, but yet so is the rest of this enchanting journey of unimaginable brilliance."

Product note

Mixing gentle, Nick Drake-like folk with the electronic, breakbeat aesthetic of typical Ninja Tune fare could easily have spelled disaster, but this first full-length from the Long Lost is a success. True, it leans a bit heavier on the folk than the electronics, but there's something consistently cutting-edge about these songs. This might have to do with the involvement of Alfred Darlington, better known to many as the alternative hip-hop artist Daedelus, who is paired with his wife, Laura, in the band. A track like "Sibilance" best captures the duo's singular alchemy, in which Laura's modest, almost eerily uninflected vocals share space with stuttering high-energy drums. The lighter tracks ("Amiss," "Colour") are equally left-of-center, and all the more alluring for it.
