Review

Rolling Stone (8/8/02, p.80) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...Catchy...mixing aggressive grunge metal with wispy vocalsm inward-looking lyrics and cotton-candy harmonies..."

Recorded at NRG Studios, North Hollywood, California.

This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.

These Southern Helmet-influenced rockers have a fine line in youthful angst, delivered without the usual bombast but with an almost breathy vocal style that's both a refreshing change from the norm and the key to LONELY POSITION OF NEUTRAL's success. Vocalist Kevin Palmer sounds alternately fragile and pissed off, the guitars churn mightily, and the end product amounts to an exercise in classic post-grunge energy, all wrapped in a suitably radio-friendly production courtesy of Linkin Park and Sugar Ray producer Don Gilmore.

Album opener "Downfall" sums up the band's approach with its chiming guitars and sinewy pop hooks, while the slowly percolating "Slipping Away" demonstrates Gilmore's steady hand at the helm, postponing the inevitable adrenaline rush until the last moment. Trust Company display their musical smarts throughout in the dynamic interplay apparent in tracks such as "Figure 8" and "The Fear," ensuring that this collision of sweaty intensity and smooth production values produces sparks aplenty.
