Though the raunchy Southern blues shouter Marvin Sease's career took off after the runaway underground success of his self-explanatory, X-rated 1987 single, "Candy Licker," his reputation mostly rests on the vitality and raciness of his live show. This compilation of performances captures the singer at his indecent best. Though raw R&B songs like "I'm Mr. Jody," Sit Down on It," and "I Ate the Whole Thing" barely bother with the formalities of the double entendre, Sease's voice is unexpectedly expressive, and in the wake of gangsta rap, his lyrics have a kind of old-world innocence, like smutty vaudeville comedy.
