Alt-metal outfit Korn's LIVE & RARE serves as a stopgap release for the band's fans and contains, as its title indicates, both live material and rare recordings. The live recordings, which capture Korn performing in 2003, feature some of the band's biggest hits, including "Did My Time," "Blind," and "Here to Stay," among others.
The second half of the album finds the band tackling a succession of cover songs (many of which are also performed live)--Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall, Pts. 1, 2 & 3," Metallica's "One," and Cheech and Chong's "Earache My Eye" among them. Also featured are a few Korn compositions that do not appear on their studio albums. Ultimately, the set serves the double function of providing a decent introduction for those unfamiliar with the group, and giving long-time fans something new to enjoy.
