Although Krishna Das has proved to be an accomplished studio musician on albums such as PILGRIM HEART and BREATH OF THE HEART, the double-disc LIVE ON EARTH returns him to his more natural setting, in a room surrounded by the call-and-response fervor of the Kosmic Kirtan Posse.
"Radhe Shyam" was originally heard by Das in 1971, when he lived in Brindavan, India and awoke daily to the strains of a blind sadhu chanting en route to the temple. The 12-minute "Samadhi Sita Ram" and "Rama Bolo (Say the Name of God)" both start slowly and mournfully before the room wells over in religious passion.
