Recorded at the Paradise Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts on February 4-5, 1982.

1982's LIVE IT UP kick-started David Johansen's post-New York Dolls, pre-Buster Poindexter solo career after a number of solid but commercially unsuccessful records. A video of the opening medley of Animals songs--"We Gotta Get Out of This Place," "Don't Bring Me Down," and "It's My Life"--got huge MTV airplay, making LIVE IT UP a small but impressive success. Johansen probably could have built upon this achievement, had Blue Sky Records not folded shortly after the album's release.

Recorded at the legendary Paradise Theatre in Allston, Massachusetts in February 1982, LIVE IT UP mixes solo Johansen, classic New York Dolls (a smoking "Personality Crisis" closes the album), and delightfully trashy covers of "Build Me Up Buttercup," "Stranded in the Jungle," and "Reach Out, I'll Be There." The band is tight and economical, and Johansen is in total control of the demonstrative crowd.
