Review

Mojo (Publisher) (p.121) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[T]here are detours into odd cover versions, improvisations, and a sweet tune they never put on their proper albums, 'Someday Soon'."

Title Note

The Doors: Jim Morrison (vocals); Bobby Krieger (guitar); Ray Manzarek (keyboards); John Densmore (drums).

Recording information: Pittsburgh Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1970).

This concert recording captured the legendary Doors performing live in 1970 during their final tour. Ray Manzerek's swirling keys, Robbie Krieger's wiry guitar, John Densmore's jazz-influenced drumming and, of course, the singing and charismatic presence of Jim Morrison weave a unique musical tapestry across 16 tracks.

In addition to well known Doors classics like "Light My Fire," "Break On Through," and "Roadhouse Blues," the band also drops in a few surprises, such as their atmospheric rendition of "Mystery Train" and a rollicking barroom blues in "Close to You." A classic-rock time capsule, as well as a valued snapshot of the band's dynamic live show, LIVE IN PITTSBURGH is a must for diehard Doors fans.
