Title Note

Personnel include: Jimmy Buffett (vocals, guitar); Don Ho, Henry Kapono, Martin Denny.

Recording information: Waikiki Shell, Honolulu, Hawaii (01/28/2004); Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Kahului, Hawaii (01/30/2004).

This live set was recorded in Hawaii, the only place that is possibly better suited to Jimmy Buffett's music than the stretch of Gulf Coast the singer famously calls home. And from the lei that adorns Buffett's neck on the cover of LIVE IN HAWAII, to the good-time music within, the overall vibe couldn't go more perfectly with palm trees, sand, and fruity alcoholic beverages.

Although the set list covers much of the same ground as many of Buffett's concert albums, the favorites are here, along with interesting covers, including Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talkin'." Duets with Martin Denny (there's a version of his "Quiet Village"), Henry Kapono (whose "Why Don't We Get Drunk" is performed on ukeleles), and Mr. "Tiny Bubbles" himself, Don Ho, add to the light, playful energy. This two-disc set, which also includes a 15-minute DVD, should put Parrotheads (as Buffett fanatics are generally known) in heaven.
