CMJ (6/26/00, p.32) - "...Captures the group in the high-energy setting of a live concert, which is where these performers are always at their best..."

Title Note

Personnel: Roy "Gramps" Morgan (vocals, horns, Fender Rhodes, organ); Una Morgan (vocals, piano); Denroy Morgan, Peter Morgan (vocals); Nakhamya "Lukes" Morgan, Mitchum "Khan" Chin (guitar); Joshua "Andrue" Manning (electric piano, Fender Rhodes, Clavinet); Neville Moulton (bass); Joseph "Steve" Miller, Laza, Shy-Poo, Mojo, Steve (drums); Memmalatel "Mr. Mojo" Morgan (percussion).

Recorded live at Ancienne Belgigue, Brussels, Belgium.

In the early '80s, expatriate roots singer Denroy Morgan had a stateside mega-hit, "I'll Do Anything for You." Along the way, he also had 27 children, five of whom comprise Morgan Heritage. The four brothers and one sister have become one of contemporary reggae's top groups. Peter sings lead vocals along with keyboardist Gramps, who handles the more R&B flavored material. Una plays keyboards and sings harmonies, Lukes plays guitar, and Mr. Mojo handles percussion.

The group's first three albums were successful, and featured their own silky blend of conscious and crossover-oriented reggae. This, their first live album, reveals that the bredren and sistren of Morgan Heritage are not only gifted, they're consummate pros. Their stage shows are fluid and tight, as this well-produced disc illustrates. To their detractors, they're a little bit too smooth, but even doubters have to be persuaded by this uplifting and dazzling disc (the only tune that seems to suffer slightly is "Earthquake," which loses a little of its fire in this in concert arrangement). "Trodin' to Zion"/"I'm a Rastaman" is spirited, and the hit "Don't Haffi Dread" brings cheers from the massive in Belgium (where the disc was recorded).
