Authored by founder Dave Isay, LISTENING IS AN ACT OF LOVE is a compilation of selected interviews from the first 10,000 sessions of the StoryCorps oral history project, in which ordinary people, usually in the company of friends and relatives, tell their stories in a soundproof studio at New York's Grand Central Station. The stories enter the historical record by being placed in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, and the participants receive a CD of their experience.
