Widely considered one of the game's best bassists, John Patitucci has the talent, the experience, and the clout to create excellent bands, compositions, and albums. He's done exactly that on 2007's LINE BY LINE, which features drummer Brian Blade, guitarist Adam Rogers, and saxophonist Chris Potter. The level of musicianship soars on this reflective, sophisticated, and textured release. With a few exceptions, notably a spirited take on Thelonious Monk's "Evidence," the tunes are Patitucci originals.
