Paste (magazine) (p.77) - "Throughout, the group's blend of emotional innocence and musical sophistication is matched by something just as disarming -- a complete absence of irony and cynicism."
The Bridges: Brittany (vocals, acoustic guitar).
Personnel: Greg Leisz (guitar, lap steel guitar, pedal steel guitar, baritone guitar, banjo); Matthew Sweet (organ, percussion).
The Bridges are fresh-faced, young (at the time of the recording, the eldest was 24), and related by blood (Natalie, Stacey, Isaaca, and Jeremy Byrd are siblings, and lead singer Brittany Painter is their cousin). All of these elements translate into the band's breezy, sunny pop sound, which boasts tight-knit musical arrangements and flawless harmonies. The Byrd siblings were raised in the church, but their primary influence seems to be 1960s and `70s pop-rock on the order of Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstadt, and Crosby, Stills and Nash. Produced by Matthew Sweet, LIMITS OF THE SKY, the Bridges' debut, synthesizes these influences with a fresh, contemporary twist, and makes for fun summer listening.
