Review

Q - "Dusty, otherworldly beauty."
Uncut - "...a starlit musical landscape."

Product note

In 2006 venerable indie label 4AD released LIGHTS FROM THE WHEELHOUSE by the Late Cord, a collaborative project between the singer-songwriter Micah P. Hinson and John Mark Lapham (from the Earlies). An intriguing, engrossing sonic experiment, LIGHTS FROM THE WHEELHOUSE has the spare, minimal feel of both a postmodern electronica outing and an intimate folk album. Unusual live instrumentation (toy accordions, anyone) keeps the sonic palette fresh, and Micah's vocals lend a distinctly human quality to this beautiful, inventive album.
