Review

Alternative Press (4/00, pp.97-8) - 4 out of 5 - "...showcases the band and the man in prime form....The songwriting was more focused and urgent, and the message even clearer: these guys were hungry to demonstrate their power to a world bloated on hairspray metal..."

Title Note

Personnel includes: Henry Rollins (vocals).

Includes liner notes by Henry Rollins.

Digitally remastered by Henry Rollins.

While Black Flag created an enormous shadow for Henry Rollins to crawl out from beneath, his time in the band also served as the perfect boot camp for his searing second act. LIFE TIME is Rollins Band at the absolute peak of their tempestuous hard-blues powers, with Henry himself in the eye of the storm. "Burned Beyond Recognition" and "What Am I Doing Here" form a furious one-two punch to start the record, and the intensity and focus rarely let up from there. While Rollins's total commitment is a matter of public record, the band matches him in every respect, whether it's on slow-burn doom epics like "Gun in Mouth Blues" or self-lacerating punk-Zeppelin workouts like "You Look At You." It may have been impossible to erase people's memories of his old band, but Rollins Band certainly tried by bashing listeners' heads in with their debut.
