JUST as the mutinous crew were becoming desperate, they met with indisputable evidence that they must be in the vicinity of land. Fresh weeds were found, such as are torn from the banks of rocks and rivers. The branch of a thorn tree was picked up, with green leaves and berries upon it. They also found, most encouraging of all, a piece of plank and a staff curiously carved. The Admiral invariably had religious service Ob. board his ship, where the Vesper Hymn to the Virgin was sung. This evening he seemed to be impressed with even unusual solemnity.
