This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.

Long before Prince came along, Todd Rundgren was one of the original one-man-band prodigies, right alongside Stevie Wonder. Over the years, Rundgren's hermetic genius has grown ever more willful and techno-savvy, so that 2004's LIARS might even be seen as a less funky analogue of the man from Minneapolis. A quirky sense of humor is displayed on several cuts, but that's nothing new for the man who released "Some Folks Is Even Whiter Than Me" in 1972. The most striking development here is the electro-dance element. While Rundgren has been working with synthesizers since the '70s, some of LIARS goes so far as to incorporate house and techno beats. Nevertheless, there's still plenty of elegantly crafted pop-rock here with ties to Rundgren's glory days (and occasionally, even stray echoes of fellow pop perfectionists XTC). While it's too left-of-center to appeal to classic-rock radio, LIARS should still find favor with audiences who love Rundgren for the mercurial nature of his musical vision.
