A singer, songwriter, and shimmeringly skilled pianist, Izibor can summon up a breezier Billie Holiday on one track, Al Green in full love sermon mode on the next, a strutting Jill Scott and/or defiant Beyonce on yet another, and so on. Her versatility, ivory grace, and vocal charm made for a disarming live persona which made her a top opener choice of R&B tastemakers like John Legend and the Roots, and wooed the critics even long before her 2009 debut.

Laura Izibor is not your cookie-cutter neo-soul singer, and it goes beyond her background: she grew up in Dublin, Ireland. Elements of folk, gospel, and rock grandeur dance about on her 2009 debut, LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD. Opening-track single "Shine" summons the early-1970s, wrapping Tower of Power-style horns, jaunty piano flourishes, and a TAPESTRY-era Carole King pop melody around a modern soul center and a massive chorus hook. Her lyrics may be standard fare of love and loss and hope and faithfulness, but she can turn a crafty phrase when need be, and this charming opening salvo of a record runs the gamut from creeping funk to radio-ready pop.

Laura Izibor (born 13 May 1987) on Griffith Avenue, Dublin, Ireland, is an Irish R&B singer who won the Jacob's/RTÉ 2fm song contest while still in secondary school. She went on to win a Hope for 2006 Award at the 2006 Meteor Music Awards. She also performed at that year's Electric Picnic music festival and Music Ireland 2007. Laura has opened for Aretha Franklin, India.Arie, Estelle and John Legend on tour. Her hotly anticipated and already widely acclaimed debut album "Let The Truth Be Told" is to be released in Ireland on Friday 8th May 2009, and in the U.K. on Monday 18th May with a U.S. release to follow in June.
