Down Beat (p.73) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "TAylor Eigsti assembles the strong attributes...the intelligence, emotional depth, technical assurance adn buoyant swing -- with confidence and joy."
JazzTimes (pp.97-98) - "Some of the samples are stunning. Redman smokes Pat Metheny's 'Timeline,' a passionate celebration of the life of Michael Brecker. Few pianists could stay with the intensity of Redman's outpourings, but Eigsti hangs in there."
Following up his fine Concord debut album, LUCKY TO BE ME, jazz pianist Taylor Eigsti demonstrates that he's not resting on his laurels. Eigsti's specialty is straight-ahead post-bop that is not stuck in an idealized past. To him, songs by alt-rock bands such as the Eels ("Not Ready Yet") are as worthy of improvisational interpretation as the standards of Cole Porter and Duke Ellington. This time around, Eigsti's dazzling approach on the keys is ably accompanied by his working band, which includes bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Eric Harland, in addition to special guest, tenor saxophone ace Joshua Redman.
