One of the hallmarks of traditional Hawaiian music is the melodious, soulful sound of the slack key guitar, with its special tunings and unique timbre. This live album, recorded at the Ritz-Carlton resort at Kapalua, gathers many current living masters of the slack key style, including Ledward Ka'apana, Keoki Kahumoku, and Martin Pahinui. The Grammy-nominated album includes traditional material both well-known (the poignant "Aloha Oe") and more obscure ("Hula Blues" from the 1920s).
