More than eight years after their last album, 1999's largely overlooked SEVEN MORE MINUTES, the Rentals returned with the four-track LAST LITTLE LIFE EP. Picking up as if hardly any time had passed, vocalist/guitarist Matt Sharp, the former bassist for Weezer, leads his Los Angeles-based band through catchy, New Wave-inspired rock tunes. But on this outing, the group showcases a more prominent chamber-pop influence, as best revealed on the breezy "Last Romantic Day," a track that strongly recalls Belle & Sebastian.
