Synopsis

In this powerful drama set during World War II, the Nazis force a celebrated French mime to put on a performance in the Jewish ghetto of Terezin.
After the Gestapo discovers that performer Antoine Moreau's girlfriend has been helping the French Resistance, he has little choice but to go along with their request. But Moreau quickly learns that the seemingly innocent show he's been asked to put on actually serves an evil purpose.
The Nazis want to fool the Red Cross into believing that they're treating the Jews decently, so they set up the town of Terezin, Czechoslovakia to appear as a "model Jewish ghetto." In reality, most of the 140,000 Jews who lived there during this period died.
Moreau is supposed to put on a one-night program of fairy tales, using the town's children in his cast -- but he finds enough courage to subvert the message of the show and tell the outside world just what the Nazis are up to.
