THE LAST BOY SCOUT: Bruce Willis stars as Joe Hallenbeck, a disillusioned former Secret Service agent who has hit rock bottom as a detective for hire. His marriage is on the rocks, his adolescent daughter has a smart mouth, he drinks too much, and he's broke. Hallenbeck takes an assignment protecting Cory (Halle Berry), the stripper girlfriend of Jimmy Dix (Damon Wayans), a former professional football player banned from the league for gambling. When Cory is murdered gangland style, Hallenbeck teams up with the former football hero to find the killers. Their search leads them deep into the world of professional football, politics, legalized gambling and sadistic hitmen. LETHAL WEAPON screenwriter Shane Black wrote the script for this violent, action-packed thriller directed by Tony Scott (TOP GUN, TRUE ROMANCE). Willis plays Hallenbeck with a sadistic glint in his eye and a deathwish. Wayans is convincing as Dix, an athlete who loses everything when he's banned from the game he loves and turns to drugs for consolation.

DEAD-BANG: Don Johnson stars as homicide detective Jerry Beck, a very different law-enforcement type than his career-making role in television's MIAMI VICE. Because of his dedication to his work, Jerry's personal life has disintegrated, and he's in the throes of a divorce. On Christmas Eve, an African American storekeeper is murdered, and, minutes later, an L.A. cop also goes down; Jerry is assigned to both cases. His research turns up the name Bobby Burns (Frank Military), a member of a white-supremacist organization who's currently on his way to a mass gathering of like-minded hate junkies in Oklahoma. The detective's investigation is joined by FBI agent Kressler (William Forsythe), a by-the-book type who does little but get in Jerry's way. Because of his sometimes unorthodox methods, Jerry is asked by his commander to be cleared for duty by the police psychiatrist or be taken off the case. When he can't stop laughing because he thinks the man looks like Woody Allen, it seems that Jerry's days on the case are numbered. DEAD BANG, loosely based on a true story, is a fun, tongue-in-cheek cop melodrama held together by Johnson's entertaining performance.

ACTION JACKSON: An auto tycoon wants to become a political kingmaker and only a Harvard law graduate turned police officer by the name of Jackson stands in his way. With the help of a nightclub singer, Jackson starts a one-man crusade to stop the tycoon's destructive course.
