Review

Rolling Stone (12/7/00, p.116) - 3.5 stars out of 5 - "...[They've] beefed up their rudimentary punk sound with bigger guitars and friskier drums. Lacing bubble gum with battery acid....putting them on the front line of the rebel-girl revival."
Spin (12/00, p.223) - 7 out of 10 - "...[They] sound more psyched than ever...and the years have only concentrated [Allison] Wolfe's spurned-Valley Grrl venom and rhythm..."
Magnet (1-2/01, p.79) - "...Those familiar with [their] revved-up rock, powered by [Erin] Smith's chug-a-lug guitar, will find more of the same hereabouts....Bratmobile flat-out rocks..."
CMJ (12/00, p.52) - "...Recalls surf music in tone, New York no wave in execution and classic 3-chord punk in duration..."

Title Note

Bratmobile: Allison Wolfe (vocals); Erin Smith (guitar); Molly Neuman (drums).

Additional personnel includes: Jon Nikki (keyboards, bass).

Producers: Tim Green, Jon Nikki, Bratmobile.

Recorded at Louder Studios, San Francisco, California.

Buzzy and intense like the 1970s-era punk classics, Bratmobile's third album--recorded after a several-year hiatus--saluted the new millennium with a richer, more guitar-heavy sound while maintaining the minimalist riot-grrl signifiers that they practically invented in the mid-'90s. Here the band deploys some of their snarliest wit on screeds like "Cheap Trick Record" and "You're Fired." Sadly, this album would also be their last.
