The founder of the celebrated Mexican band Los Bukis, Marco Antonio Solis is a cornerstone of modern Tejano and Norteno music. As evidenced by LA HISTORIA CONTINUA's opening track, the laid-back, romantic "Desde Que te Perdi," and most of the other cuts here, his style is sophisticated, his phrasing smoothly elegant, yet undeniably macho (from his early Los Bukis recordings, Solis has displayed a strong tendency towards classy emoting).
Solis is not averse to the passionate outpourings of the Ranchera style, either, as is evident in the traditional, trumpet-accompanied "La Venia Bendita." Meanwhile, with "Recuerdos, Tristeza y Soledad" (from the album of the same name), he shows he's more than capable of running with the Iglesiases of this world, a view that's reinforced by the danceable rhythms of "Me Vas a Hacer Llorar." If you haven't yet treated yourself to Solis's seductive brand of Tejano crooning, LA HISTORIA CONTINUA is a fine place to start.
