Title Note

Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie: Geno Delafose (vocals, accordion, piano, drums); Joseph "Cookie" Chavis (guitar); Steve Nash (rubboard); Germaine Jack (drums, rubboard).

Additional personnel: Christine Balfa (acoustic guitar); Dirk Powell, Steve Riley (fiddle); Scott Billington (background vocals).

Recorded at Ultrasonic Studios, New Orleans, Louisiana in January 1998. Includes liner notes by Scott Billington.

Son of John Delafose, frontman for the legendary Eunice Playboys, Geno Delfafose plays Creole and Cajun music at its most hypnotic. In songs like "Je Vas Jamais La Voir Encore," "Bernadette," and "Tite Monde," his loping accordion riffs seem to bend time back on itself; like aural Mobius strips. Most of these songs are in French, and most are traditional, but on "Une Autre Soir Ennuyante," Delafose bangs out an impassioned '60s-style soul ballad, and later he changes the pace again with "Save the Last Dance For Me," giving the old Drifters ballad a swampy Louisiana patina that sounds eminently right.
