Algerian-born DJ/producer Cheb I Sabbah's recordings are a unique fusion of Judeo-Arabic-Hindu-electronica. KRISHNA LILA, the third in Sabbah's trilogy of Indian-based recordings, focuses on the Hindu side of things. He brings together North Indian and South Indian musicians to play bhajans (devotional songs) in a hybrid of Indian styles. Tablas, violin, and bansuri flutes mix with bass (by Bill Laswell) and percussion to create a lively and heart-stirring trance/dance soundtrack.
