Born after many of their musical influences were long in the ground, the Durham siblings began playing their anachronistic blend of rockabilly, jump jazz, and country blues in the mid-'00s, before youngest sister, singer/percussionist Kitty, had even reached her teens. While they come from a musical family-- father was a producer, mother played drums for seminal punkers, the Raincoats- there's a sincerity in the recordings far beyond their years or pedigree. Their live shows featuring Kitty and Daisy wailing and/or perched over a primitive drum set while pompadoured Lewis stoically strummed guitar, earned the band a cult following by the end of the decade.
