Distributor Note

When we last saw Kenichi, he was making the transition from wimp to warrior - okay, maybe no warrior, but he was definitely taking steps to man up.

Well, the world is starting to notice, which is good and bad. On the plus side, he’s making friends and getting more respect. In the minus column, his rep is growing faster than his skills, which is tricky now that every thug in town wants to test his new techniques. That means between street brawls and trying to score with Miu, Kenichi still has to hang tough with the six Martial Arts masters. Lucky for him, the training is getting more tense - because before Kenichi can finally stand tall, he’ll have to beat his fiercest opponent yet!

Episode 14 - Dedicated Training! And a Nearby Hot Spring Bath!
Kenichi can’t help but notice that something fishy is going down at Ryozanpaku. The six masters have turned into sweethearts, replacing smacks to the head with pats on the back. The peace and love isn’t ringing true to Kenichi, and it doesn’t take much prodding to finally get some honesty. The masters want their student to live at the dojo, soaking in the day to day struggle of the fighting life. The idea doesn’t strike Kenichi as a good one until Kensei points out a hidden benefit: Sharing a roof with Miu!

Episode 15 - Honoka Infiltrates Ryozanpaku!
Honoka undertakes a secret mission: Gain access to Ryozanpaku and figure out why her brother moved away from home! Delivering a basket of Kenichi’s favorite treat gives the headstrong little girl a chance to snoop around the dojo. Her espionage skills are definitely lacking, though, and so is her grasp on the reasons behind the violent trials Kenichi must endure. Honoka may cringe seeing him get beat down over and over - but she knows her big brother never stays down for long.

Episode 16 - Ryozanpaku Faces the Greatest Crisis?!
Martial arts masters are generally better prepared for sneak attacks than most. But the forces marching toward Ryozanpaku may prove difficult to confront. One of Miu’s rivals has ratted, her out and the authorities from her school are coming to investigate the scandalous rumors they’ve heard. If she can’t prove her living situation to be normal, her entire education is at risk. The masters are willing to help, but that might be the biggest problem of all.

Episode 17 - Protect the Name! Attack of the Dojo Challengers!
The masters are all away, so it’s up to Kenichi and Miu to hold down the fort - but the fort is under attack! A rival dojo has come to stake their claim and prove their superiority once and for all. Miu maintains her cool, but her hospitality only angers the invaders more. And Kenichi has that look in his eyes. The number one disciple of Ryozanpaku will defend his turf.

Episode 18 - Paradise? To the Mysterious Furinji Island!
Kenichi has been working hard, completing three weeks of punishing non-stop training since moving to Ryozanpaku. Add on the stress of never getting even a moment to get closer to Miu, and it’s easy to see why the kid might need a vacation. The masters may be stern, but they aren’t cruel. The gang sets off to a private island for some sand and surf action, but Kenichi has one more test to pass before he can get around to rubbing sunscreen on Miu’s back.

Episode 19 - The Strongest of the Ragnarok! Here Come the Eight Greatest Fists!
Vacation’s over and it’s the last bit of peace that Kenichi is likely to enjoy any time soon. His masters are eager to step up the training, even at the cost of his sanity and health. They are wise indeed - because Ragnarok is preparing for war. The gang of delinquents is stronger than ever, their ranks bolstered by the promotion of a tough girl named Kisara - and she’s got Kenichi and Takeda in her sights. Kenichi knows her powers are awesome. It doesn’t take a genius to see that he is outmatched.

Episode 20 - Takeda in Danger! The Rules of Revenge!
Ragnarok is looking to make the Takeda pay for his mutiny. The cycle of violence seems unending, and life is tough when you have to keep looking over your shoulder. The question must be asked: What makes a fighter stand above his foes? Some are blessed with natural skill. Others must depend on perseverance. As Takeda ponders these thoughts, he will face a demon from the past.

Episode 21 - Unforgivable! Kenichi’s Fists of Fury!
Kenichi is rushing to Takeda’s aid as the boxer faces off with the Ragnarok squad. He may thrash his way through the foot soldiers, but Kisara waits for her chance to punish Takeda’s betrayal. The tide of the battle turns over and over, the advantage shifting as allies gather to protect the beaten. The familiar question must be asked again: What makes a fighter stand above his foes? Sometimes it’s as easy as having the right friends. This war isn’t over - it’s only just beginning.

Episode 22 - Gather, Yo

Product Notes

After 15 years of getting harassed and beaten up, Kenichi Shirahama seems to have finally found a way to stand his ground. Kenichi strikes up a bond with a transfer student named Miu, and, after following her to the Ryozanpaku, a dojo for especially skilled martial artists, he is trained to near-perfection by several masters. School bullies are no longer much of a problem, but he's soon faced with a real challenge: after defeating a formidable gang, Kenichi catches the malevolent attention of the YOMI, a team of students trained by the masters of a rival dojo that's even tougher than the Ryozanpaku. This set includes the second half of this knuckle-busting anime’s first season.
