Review

Kerrang (Magazine) (p.48) - "[P]roduction-wise this debut sounds as huge and dense as you'd expect..."

Title Note

Former A Perfect Circle member Billy Howerdel is the man behind Ashes Divide. Members of A Perfect Circle, Concrete Blonde, and Alkaline Trio appear on the album, but this is Howerdel's project through and through. Built around his moody, atmospheric guitar work, the music on KEEP TELLING MYSELF IT'S ALRIGHT is textured and progressive, yet its general dark, heavy tone should keep it interesting to fans of APC and Tool (the main band of Howerdel's former collaborator Maynard Keenan). From churning songs like "Stripped Away" to softer, more introspective pieces like "Too Late," Howerdel's solo debut proves his talent will continue to find new ways of expressing itself.

5 out of 5 stars great debut for Howedel, November 9, 2008

This is not a one hit wonder project. Billys vision comes through full force in a beautifully worked, mature piece of musical art. Forever Can Be, Ritual and Denial Awaits absolutely made me melt, and I cant seem to get enough. What this album has is variety and depth. Its format is perhaps non traditional as it lacks a B side, with its hit song "The Stone" as the 9th track, but perhaps that is because most of the tunes on Keep Telling Myself Its Alright belong on the A side.
