Title Note

NYC trio K.A.R. rose as prot‚g‚s of Fat Joe and Pistol Pete, so the vibrant, melodic sound and even-handed, aggressive flow on their 2009 self-titled debut is no shocker. Opening track "Girl Wanna Have Fun" subtly captures the `00s autotune aesthetic without resorting to gaudy gimmicks, while lead single "Oh Baby" boasts stunna sensuality, an early-1980s R&B under-hook, and a sleek guest spot by Fat Joe. It's a diverse debut that takes the occasional chance but contains enough familiar to please dance floor derelicts.
