Review

"What makes these novellas work is the authority of Mr. Harrison voice."

"A mint of down-home goodness... Genuine, full-throttle fun coasting over ever-threatening undercurrents of pathos and hearbreak."

Annotation

Three comic novellas from the celebrated novelist and satirist. The title story is an account of the efforts of Julip, a young girl with three elderly lovers, to save her older brother Bobby from committal to a lunatic asylum. "The Seven Ounce Man" describes the quest of Brown Dog to save from development a Native American burial ground in which his ancestors are interred. In "The Beige Dolorosa," Phillip Caulfield, a middle-aged English professor suffering the mandatory identity crisis, moves to a ranch in Arizona and tries to become a cowboy.
