Referee-turned-judge Mills Lane's familiar cry of "Let's Get It On" opens the testosterone-fueled JOCK ROCK 2000. "It's All About The Benjamins (Rock Remix)" sets a frantic pace. The compilation works on many levels. By representing various genres, JOCK ROCK 2000 tunes listeners in on music to which they might not normally be exposed. It's also an excellent party record, as these upbeat tunes are perfect celebratory music.
Third Eye Blind, Harvey Danger, and Barenaked Ladies are among the members of the modern rock faction who contribute their hits. The "Block Rockin' Beats" of The Chemical Brothers, Prodigy's "Firestarter," and "The Rockafella Skank" by Fatboy Slim are a fine sampling of techno tracks. The swing of Cherry Poppin' Daddies' "Zoot Suit Riot," and the old school groove of Elvis Costello's "Pump It Up" round out the disc. JOCK ROCK 2000 will definitely put you in the right frame of mind.
