Not exactly what comes to mind when you think of Christmas music, the songs on Jingle Bell Rock are more fun than they are traditional. You won't find Nat "King" Cole here but rather oldies legends like the Beach Boys, Ricky Nelson, Bobby Vee, and Fats Domino. These early rockers bring plenty of exuberance and nostalgia to some of the better-known Christmas classics: "Jingle Bell Rock" (Bill Haley), "Frosty (The Snowman)" (Jan & Dean), "Jingle Bells" (Ricky Nelson), "Blue Christmas" (Bobby Vee). There are some lesser-known Christmas songs on here too, though: "I Told Santa Claus" (Fats Domino), "Sleigh Ride" (Ventures), "Merry Christmas, Baby" (Beach Boys). This blend of the familiar and the unfamiliar keeps things interesting. The true highlight, though, is hearing Christmas music infused with the sense of fun innocence these performers bring to the songs. ~ Jason Birchmeier
