New York's Priestbird (formerly the instrumental band Tarantula AD) doggedly pursue melody, no matter style they adopt, and there are several divergent styles represented here: sludgey post-punk, bucolic folk, droning psychedelia, stuttering math rock. Breathtaking melodies weave in and around complex arrangements with strings and awesome guitars, and the vocals are a step in the right direction from the all-instrumental onslaught of Tarantula AD.
