Review

Entertainment Weekly (p.75) - "[A] weirdly infectious debut that mixes his rap-track know-how with his love of guitar-god theatrics." -- Grade: B+
Q (Magazine) (p.104) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Rudolf's sound is his own on an album full of scarf-waving choruses, insistent hooks and surprisingly reflective lyrics."

Title Note

Recording information: B.A.M.F. Studios, Miami, FL.

A genre-straddling debut from this New York session guitarist turned rock/rap frontman, IN THE CITY splices hip-hop beats to glossy arena rock with multi-tracked guitars and U2- sized choruses. The album's lead single, "In the City," features Rudolph trading lines with Lil' Wayne over seamless `80s-influenced production that splits the difference between Gary Numan's "Cars" and Jefferson Starship's "We Built This City."

5 out of 5 stars Nice debut - If you are looking for 14 songs like Let It Rock you will not be disappointed , November 24, 2008

This disc definitely does not sound like a debut disc- especially when it was produced by the artist. You can tell that Kevin Rudolf has put his dues in working as a session musician. Let It Rock is a nice fresh new sound for mainstream/Top 40 radio. You will find a number of songs with the same flavor as Let It Rock such as Livin It Up, N.Y.C., Welcome To The World and She Can Get It. These definitely will be radio friendly - in the edited versions. Great Escape, I Song, Scarred and Gimme A Sign are a little slower yet are very well written. Kevin Rudolf has written and produced a disc that will produce a number of hits. I really did not hear anything here that I felt would go straight to number 1 just a number of great tunes that will be in heavy rotation for sometime to come. I know I will be mixing in a number of these tunes in my sets.
