If, as the old theory maintains, a monkey given enough time on a typewriter will produce Shakespeare, it's only logical to assume that eventually even the strangest musical cross-pollination will be commonplace. Case in point: Brokencyde, the world's first crunk/screamo hybrid. In practice, the combination revealed on I'M NOT A FAN BUT THE KIDS LIKE IT is not quite as incongruous as one might expect. Both styles of music are really about fully letting go of one's inhibitions, so to hear a white emo kid shrieking the words "booty call" over a bumpin' beat ("Booty Call") or exploring his feelings while moving to dance club-style synths ("Jealousy"), seems like the logical next step in a grand tradition of party music.
