Title Note

Personnel includes: Clifton Chenier (vocals, accordion); Danny Caron (guitar); C.J. Chenier (alto saxophone); Gabriel King (tenor saxophone); Warren Ceasar (trumpet); Wayne Burns (bass); Robert Peter (drums); Cleveland Chenier (rubboard).

Recorded at Studio In The Country, Bogalusa, Louisiana. Includes liner notes by Ban Sandmel.

Released in 1982 on the Chicago-based Alligator blue label, this one of Clifton Chenier's best studio releases from the last decade of his life. It was justifiably even awarded a Grammy. Chenier's nine originals positive shimmer with excitement. "Dry Your Eyes" is one of his finest ballads, ever. He squeezes every drop of emotion from the simple narrative structure of the lyric. Indeed, the very sound of his voice and the band, are the true embodiment of the words. Warren Ceasar on trumpet is a featured soloist throughout, a nice counterpoint to Chenier's own accordion. The three horn line-up adds sass and spark, especially on the set's one cover, "In The Mood." Cleanly recorded, it's nice to hear the ever present Cleveland Chenier's rub-board captured in high fidelity.
