Somewhat confusingly, this is basically a reissue of the first Deadboy and the Elephantmen album, IF THIS IS HELL THEN I'M LUCKY. By newly attributing the album to himself instead of his former band, Dax Riggs implies that it was essentially his baby from the beginning. With the way his voice curls around a dark lyric or a crunchy minor-key chord, it seems hard to argue with that assessment. Recalling Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, and Danzig in equal measure, Riggs is the most indelible vocalist in Southern metal.
