Title Note

The Austin, Texas, quintet I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness originally released this self-titled EP in 2003; the disc was then re-released by Secretly Canadian in 2006. Produced by Spoon's Britt Daniels, the five songs on I LOVE YOU BUT I'VE CHOSEN DARKNESS present a band with a strong grasp of popcraft and roots firmly planted in 1980s new wave and post-punk. The songs jangle while remaining angular, and boast plenty of hooks with the nervous energy. While understandably not as accomplished as the band's follow-up full-length, it is still an impressive portrait of a band in its formative stages.
