Steve Harley is best known as the leader of 1970s British glam-rockers Cockney Rebel, who briefly gave Roxy Music a run for their money before breaking up in 1974. A few mid-'70s albums were released by a revamped band under the name Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, achieving a greater degree of commercial success. By the late '70s, Harley was a solo artist, releasing several albums on his own over the years. From 1999 to 2008 he also hosted a popular BBC radio show, The Sounds of the Seventies.
